Chris, Veterinary Technician
My life was surrounded by mountains, growing up in upstate New York, until I decided to relocate to the beach. While the change of scenery may have motivated my move, the people and animals in my life keep me grounded here. I appreciate the challenging and interesting education I receive by working in the veterinary field. Although I do not currently have any pets, I am certain the right furry friend will find its' way to me here.
Raised in Sonoma County, CA I relocated to Wilmington in 2002 to be nearer to more of my extended family. I began working with Atlantic Animal Hospital in 2004 and after a short time in emergency medicine, I was given the opportunity to return to Atlantic and work with this amazing team. I appreciate that everything about animals is authentic, they only act and react to the environment around them thus being honest in any situation. Through my work, I have come to not only love the presence of animals but to love the therapeutic aspects of my job.
Denise, Veterinary Technician- Supervisor
I was born in New Jersey but relocated to Wilmington to attend UNC-Wilmington. I have grown up around mostly cats but enjoy all animals. While Atlantic Animal Hospital is not the first veterinary office I have worked at, I am glad to be a part of this family. The unconditional love and companionship that animals provide has helped steer my career path. My position here provides me amazing experiences which I hope will prepare me for attending veterinary school someday.
Mica, Veterinary Technician
My life has always revolved around animals and their care. From a young age, I was exposed to the breeding of Great Danes. My mother was a cruelty investigator for a humane society and these experiences shaped me into the animal lover I am today. I have worked for many years in veterinary general practice, as well as emergency medicine, and am certain I have found my calling. I intend to continue my education, working toward my veterinary technician certification. I have a special place in my heart for rescues and helping disabled animals. I currently share my home with Skeeter (a terrier mix), Lacey (a dachshund mix paraplegic) and Helix (a Turkish Van).

Small animals are not my only love. Before joining the Atlantic Animal Hospital team, I spent time as an intern training dolphins at the Miami Seaquarium and caring for the wildlife at a 365 acre wildlife preserve call Lion Country Safari. This wide range of experience certainly helped when pursuing my veterinary technology degree. I treasure that every day I have the opportunity to care for the animals, give them a voice and provide them, and their owners, support and love. My best friend, and roommate, Autumn(a German Shepherd) is sweet enough to share a place on the bed with me and in return I get to be her company on car rides.
Courtney, Veterinary Technician
Wildlife rehabilitation is my long term goal, but right now, I get to use my skills helping your, not- so- wild pets. I started my career in Wilmington at the Fort Fisher Aquarium caring for the exotic and aquatic animals while also acting as a public educator. When provided the opportunity to work at a local veterinary office, I jumped at the chance to expand my knowledge on animal care and education. This experience helped show me just how strong animals are, how they can overcome such obstacles and how I can help them. I transitioned to Atlantic Animal Hospital to be a part of their community outreach through their assistance with the Friends of Felines program and their work with the Coastal Animal Rescue Effort. Noodle, is my amazing goofball of a dog who wandered in to my life and was meant to share it with me.
Cynthia, Veterinary Technician
I am a North Carolina native but just recently moved to Wilmington. Why? Location, Location, Location! The opportunity to live near the beach seemed as amazing as working with animals all day. While I work in both emergency medicine (I also work at the local emergency clinic) and general practice I chose Atlantic Animal Hospital so I could better connect with the clients on a regular basis and really get to see the animals throughout their lives. My focus in life is to be happy and enjoy every moment, which I am fortunate to share with my pitbull, Weezie.
